Default Clock still counting????

I applied to Abbey for a Data Protection Act coming up for 40 days ago. Yesterday I received a letter asking that as I have moved since I last used the account I need to provide info for an id check.

Does this impact the 40 days they have to reply?

Cheers

It has no effect whatsoever. Stick to your deadline.

Good luck.

And please keep to one thread so it's easier for us to follow, thanks.

I'm afraid that it does affect your request. The request is only valid from the time and the the application and sent the money is paid and your ID is verified. It is a nasty delaying tactic for the bank to wait in this way and then to hit you with an ID request that there is and much you can do about it except to become more angry and to attack them harder and you finally get your information.

Angry Re: Data Protection Act Letter Sent - The Clock's Ticking

Bugger!!!!

So they will have 40 days from when they receive id verification - that sucks. But you are right - they have made me angry now!!

I had 2 accounts with these suckers and I'm not letting them off the hook!

In the meantime NatWest and Smile can keep me entertained!

Thanks for the advise.

Hi there - I finally got round to updating my Address details and sent off my Data Protection Act request on 26th September. I have not heard a thing from Abbey.

Can I estimate what they owe me? If so how do I proceed?

Thanks

Rob

Estimated claims are really not a good idea. Have you read the Abbey forum to see what others have done?

You may end up having to raise a court claim to ask for an order to enforce Abbey to comply with the Data Protection Act request.
