Default Abbey National's customer commitment

In response to the victory against them, a spokesperson for the Abbey National Bank announced that
Quote:
We do not charge fees to people who contact us and ask to borrow money - bank charges are only imposed on those who don't contact us and go beyond their agreed limits."
Plymouth Herald 4th February 2006

This statement is to be welcomed and will help to set new standards for consumer-oriented banking in the UK.

errr... I think this should be one for the humourous quotes section.

I went into a branch when I knew my employer had buggered up my wage payment and their suggestion was that I be given a small overdraft to cover their charges!! It was refused, as I had revieved charges in the past!! (due to my employers cock-up again). They didn't say "you have contacted us and therefore we won't charge you."

So to say, 'We do not charge people who contact us and ask to borrow money' is a complete crock of sh*te.

Abbey have taken Barclays crown of 'King of the sh*ttiest bank.'.

I assume this is said with tongue-in-cheek.

I'm assuming that what they have said is true - in which case, no it isn't tongue anywhere ... assuming it is true, of course!!!
