Default Abbey just being plain awkward

I have a business account with abbey - its the free banking for life, as long as I stay within certain criteria, which for me it isn't difficult.

However, all of the banking is done over the Internet, and all the deposits of cheques are done via post.

Since I began enquiries with Abbey for past statements, then sent my letters etc (I'm at moneyclaim stage at the moment with 14 days to go) then they have just got funny with me.

I ran out of the pre-paid envelopes that they send out to me, about 2 months ago. Previously if I needed any, I just sent a request on the Internet and they were with me within a week.

I have now sent 6 requests by e-mail over the past two months - NOTHING, not a thing back from them.

On top of this, I have also placed three seperate requests by telephone and still nothing!

Anybody else had this sort of problem or is it that I'm just too ugly to be an abbey customer!!!!

I do have the freepost address, but I resent them not sending me anything for TWO MONTHS.

Believe me I'll make their life difficult if this is the game they want to play!

They are not messing about with the envelopes - at least they are, but it's not just you.

We've had the same problems with them. We've put in numerous requests and had the plebs on the phone say "I'm doing it right now for you" only for nothing to arrive. When you call again, the next person says, "Dunno how they were gonna do that, we don't have them they're posted from a different department and they ain't got no staff" or words to that effect.

Basically Abbey has yet another system that dosen't work only this one actually prevents you from using its service. In a perverse way, it could be another method of getting levying charges. Think about it:

You have regular outgoing payments - they just go. You have no method of making payments into the account because they won't send you envelopes. At some point, the automatic payments will put the account into overdraft. Hmm. Bet they haven't thought of that one.

Yup, that was my line of thinking.

After I comp[lained for the second time, I was given the freepost address BUT then was told that I was best putting a first class stamp on the envelope, regardless of it being freepost, as if I didn't the cheques would only arrive by 2nd class.

Anyway, they've sent me about 20 envelopes for now, so I can carry on.

I'm absolutely certain it was just their way of making my life that little more difficult. They succeeded, but I was determined to reciprocate!

dur - silly me thought they'd sent you the envelopes 8 times and was picturing you with hundreds of them

see your point about it being a subtle way of getting more charges out of us - same thing happened to me a few months ago, I requested new envelopes which took ages to arrive, and I did end up with a little pile of cheques and a shortage of funds in the account before I found the address to send them in to........

sneaky little................
