Default Abbey charges gone up??

Is it me or have Abbey's charges gone up?, I have not been charged in ages but the last time I was the charge was £12.

I went £1.40 overdrawn the other day, I was charged £25 and £35, for being overdrawn and having a Direct Debit returned, £60 in total, I am sure they have put these back up!!

On the day that the Government injected Billions into our banking system, the banks still enjoy ripping us off.

I argued the toss and got put through to your traditional indian call centre as nobody in the Abbey branch was willing to help me they just pointed me to an in branch telephone.

managed to recover the £35 charge as a gesture of good will, but the £25 still stands, I am determined to get this back..

£12 sounds like a credit card charge, are you sure you're not confusing 2 different accounts? Either that or WHEN were you last charged? 1984?

I don't have an Abbey account, but I'm pretty sure my SIL has been paying those large amounts for quite a while...

Anyway, you know the drill by now... You never know, with a bit of luck they might not fight too hard for such a small amount.

You can - and should - start the process ASAP, for various reasons: 1) When the process starts again, would you rather be in the front or the back of the queue? 2) There is a small chance that they won't block you for such a small amount.

The process is only frozen when it comes to going to court or through the FOS, so there's nothing to stop you lodging your request for repayment anyway. THEY will tell you they don't have to process it, but that's simply not true, although if they can make you go away by telling you this, they will....

Hi waynedear

I'm having the same trouble with Abbey, wen't £1.56 overdrawn was hit with £75 of charges. Managed to get back £35, but in the meantime they took the £75 of charges out of my account leaving me overdrawn again by £1.35. So another lot of charges will be coming out next month.

Hi Waynedear

If you go into the bank and complain, they tell you that i need to phone there online banking service. Then your lucky if you speak to a person in this country about the charges. All there will refund as you know is the £35 and no more, then give you a good talking to like your a 5 year old telling you must make sure there is anough funds in the bank.
Just do what Bookwarn told you he knows and complain to there head Office, if you don't get a response from them, then get a letter out to FOB.
I wrote a letter last week to Abbey, but as of yet had a reply from them.

Hi im dropping a letter off later today to be sent, I recently left Abbey, but have not as yet closed my accounts, the main reason for leaving was not only was there always cues in every single branch I went into, but I was fed up with the telephone customer services, like you say I could never speka to anyone in this country about anything, they could not understand me and I even had to talk very slowly to them, it was worse than an automated service.

I wroted to Abbey and cimplained about this and they took months to reply, when theydid they gace me a number that takes you straight through to an English call centre, but I lost it.......Not good
