Default Help Please With Mbna/abbey Cc

Hello people, can anybody advise me please? I have just had the phone put down on me by a rude person at MBNA, after I refused to give a financial statement over the phone, preferring instead to send one by registered post. He refuses point blank to accept a written statement, saying they need to sort it out quicker than that. Sorry, I'll start at the beginning. Ran in to a few problems some time ago and Abbet cc was one of the problems. Anyway, I started an agreed payment schedule with them and this worked ok. My balance is about £1100 and I was/still am paying £13/month. Interest frozen etc. Last year the payment date was causing me probs with my bank account, which meant I was getting charges added and Abbey cc said they could not change the payment date, so I cancelled the DD, thinking I would restart it on a different date. I forgot to do this, and so got 3 mnths behind. I have started the DD up again but Abbey cc are sending me nasty letters. Abbey cc say they need to review the arrangment because its been in place for over 12 months, which I dont have a problem with, but am I being obstructive or is the rude boy at MBNA/Abbey, and should I agree to do the financial statement over the phone? Thanks for reading. jed

Did he call you? If so, then all he needs to know is that you will not discuss personal/financial details over the phone. You are well within your rights to refuse and insist on correspondence by letter.

Ask him for a detailed explanation of how they calculate their charges over the phone, see if he suddenly see's your point..

Hi Gez. No he didnt call me, I called them in reply to a letter they sent me. They gave me deadline to contact them by the 17th. I wrote to them a month ago and got no reply at all and tried to get this point across to the ignoramous I spoke to but he woudnt listen. Anyway I have sent them a financial statement and complained in the same letter about how I was treated over the phone. I have also told them not to contact me other than by letter. I will be requesting a Subject Access Request shortly. Thanks for your reply Gez. I will keep posting, jed.
