Hello folks

OK here goes.

I have just sat down and done a spreadsheet and compared it against what I paid and the interest (I have assumed that they calculate interest daily and added this to the loan amount - compound Int). Our rate was 7.45% fixed rate and worked out on a daily basis I have overpaid in the first year (1999, yes I know about statute of limitations) £41.24.

Is there anything on this website that I casn use to claim back overcharged mortgage interest???

Hi Slinks and welcome to CAG.

You could write to the lender and voice your concern, that you believe you may have overpaid by £41.24 in 1999 and ask for their comments.

I doubt there's anything more you can do if you are unhappy with their response, but suspect the apparent o/pay't will be explained by a difference in methods of calculation.

I HAVE JUST INPUT MY STATEMENTS INTO A PROGRAM CALLED HOME LOAN INTEREST MANAGER, WHICH USES THE SAME SYSTEM OF INTEREST CALCULATIONS AS THE BANKS IN THE UK.
I FOUND THAT NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT DISCOUNT MY MORTGAGE RATE AS PER MY OFFER BUT THEY ALSO HAVE OVERCHARGED ON MY INTEREST.

I JUST WONDERED IF THERE WERE ANY LETTERS THAT I COULD SEND THE BANK WITH REGARD TO THIS OVERCHARGE.....
