Cool Shazzam v Abbey

Hello everyone I'm new to the Abbey Forum but have been successful already with Nat West. However, I have a quick question....

A friend of mine is the person who actually has the Abbey account and is going away travelling for 6 months. Whilst he is away he has asked if I could reclaim his charges for him which I believe are somewhere near £4000. Do I have to become a named account holder to do this? If we were to draw up a contract between us would that be ok? The other thing is he requested the last 6 years worth of statements but none of them have charges on (although I haven't looked at them yet so they could be hidden under another title). This is just a initial questioning to begin with but any advice would be brilliant.

On a personal level I'm now looking at Capital One and my PPI but I shall use the other forums for that. Good luck to all x

Hello,

I would imagine that in the current climate, 6 months would not be long enough to get a refund. If your friend has access to internet (email) whilst away, then perhaps you could just conduct the claim and comunicate regularly via the internet, until he/she returns from travelling and takes over the process?

I gave my OH authority to deal with specified accounts on my behalf by sending them a signed letter. I would think that you could do the same with that one bank only.

Thanx very much for your suggestions. I think a letter would be good regarding this account as then the mail would come to me as well. I shall be keeping in touch with. I was going to do what you said but just wanted some reassurance. I always find the initial stages of this fairly nerve racking just don't want to make any mistakes. Last time accidently filed a claim against myself! Manage to rectify it. Quite funny though.
