Default Had enough

I am now in the process of gathering the list of charges paid to Abbey over the last few years after banging my head against a brick wall with them. Due to employing the builder from hell, I got myself into a bit of a financial mess. I knew that I wouldn't be able to meet my commitments that month and wrote to Abbey explaining my situation and asked them for help, before everything being paid from my account became rubberised. I did not receive any form of reply. I was then sent my statement advising that due to there being insufficient funds in my account various things were or were not paid but either way I was being charged a total of £285 on 7th June. I wrote again and explained that if they took these charges they would put me in "serious financial difficulty". Again nothing. Low and behold they have deducted the charges, putting my account further over my overdraft and no doubt will charge me for that too. I am sooooo angry. They are the most ignorant bunch of asses I have ever had the misfortune of dealing. Luckily for me they are in breach of the banking code by not treating my case of financial difficulty sympathetically or positively. I now have no qualms whatsoever in claiming my money back off them I think I deserve it if not purely through being treated with no consideration whatsoever after 20 years of being a customer.
LET THE BATTLE COMMENCE

From what I've read, Abbey are quite tough cookies, so don't let them intimidate you. Persevere and you'll get what is due to you..

All the best

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you haven't done so already, please read through the FAQ and Library sections before doing anuthing else. It will take you a while but it will give you a clear indication of what you will need to do.

You mentioned that you have an overdraft. You should be aware that Abbey may call this in and they may even close your account if you take them to court. We recommend that, if you don't already have another account, you should open one before commencing battle.

I hope this hasn't put you off and please post any questions here.

I am prepared to go all the way with them, I have nothing to lose! (well maybe court costs) at least I can say I've tried. I have read through lots of the info on the site and will continue to do so. Will keep you updated on my mission.
